One way or the other – ice cream in a cone or on a stick – who can resist an ice cream in summer time..?
It’s Summertime here so we all like to go on an adventure when it’s warm. Kinderdijk is a gorgeous picture-postcard place to visit just 1.5hours from Amsterdam and it’s bike heaven! Flat terrain, windmils, canals, green grass and fresh air..ahh! So go grab a bike and head out on an adventure..fingers crossed you’ll have the wind at your back!
Yes! It’s here! Summer. We only get 10 days of sunshine a year (or at least it feels like that). But when those precious days arrive, we head straight to the park with friends. Pack that portable BBQ into your bicycle crate, grab some beers and bike carefully along the cobblestones streets until you hit your favourite park.
These guys has a bike converted to a DJ sound station which happily entertained the surrounding picnic-ers, combined with their dance moves.
Summer is in full swing. It is hot and riding your bike along the canals is thus even cooler than usual. But, please do not fade into daydreaming to soon and stay aware of the other season’s symptom: tourists! With their heads in their maps, looking for Amsterdam’s highlights, they might not be aware of your arrival. That is a shame. So here is my plea to all you Amsterdam cyclists out there: please add some more local flavour to our dear tourist’s experience: ring your bike bell politely in advance and just smile and wave while you pass them. Benefits for you: smiles and plenty of admiration for your looks/ localness/ sturdy handling of the steering bar (Please cross out those not applicable!)
