Tot ziens Winter!
Amsterdammers are so very happy to see winter behind them. The days are now longer, brighter, and we can wear less clothing. That’s always a good thing!
At Amsterdam Cycle Chic, we are constantly taking photos and we end up blogging or gramming only a handful. So we thought we’d give you a purge of our winter collection. Enjoy!
Ambidexterity
When I moved here, I was just hoping to stay on my bike and ride in a straight line. Time sure brings confidence!

[insert Dutch windmills and bicycles here]
It’s Summertime here so we all like to go on an adventure when it’s warm. Kinderdijk is a gorgeous picture-postcard place to visit just 1.5hours from Amsterdam and it’s bike heaven! Flat terrain, windmils, canals, green grass and fresh air..ahh! So go grab a bike and head out on an adventure..fingers crossed you’ll have the wind at your back!

Commuting by ferry in Amsterdam
Since a month I work in Amsterdam-Noord, the neighbourhood at the other side of the IJ river. To get there by bike you either have to go all the way to the East side and cross two big bridges, or you take a ferry. Since March there is a new ferry at Java-eiland (the ‘Oostveer’ at Azartplein). I love it. You don’t have to cross the busy city centre and you have a great view over the water. It is actually quite relaxing after a day of hard work or after baby rush hour in the morning.
This is what it looks like when the ferry arrives:
- Curious what it is to take one of the other ferries? Read the post by Else: Living in Amsterdam Noord
- Want to try the ‘Oostveer’? Check out the ferry timetable, it goes only three times per hour
- Want to learn more about Amsterdam Noord? Visit the great website I Love Noord
